San Francisco May Have the Big Name, yet the ‘Mysterious’ Eastbay May Be the Hidden Gem
with Bay Area features second to none….

Five Great Features of the Eastbay – Hiking, Views, Weather, Mt.Diablo, Restaurants

northern california attractions, things to do in berkeley, best restaurants in east bay, east bay restaurants, things to do in oakland ca,sfo attractions, things to do in oakland,Eastbay, Hiking, Views, Weather,Mt.Diablo, Snow, Restaurants

1)  HIKING: The Eastbay Parks district has reportedly more parks per land area than any other park district in the United States. Nothing quite like the stunning hikes the East Bay can offer. Enjoy nature amongst giant redwood trees in places like Redwood Regional Park, above, or Morgan Territory, Coyote Hills (Fremont), Point Pinole, Carquinez Straights, Sunol, Sobrante Ridge, Briones,   Bay Trail and dozens more without the roar of MUNI buses and drunk Giants fans.   SEE MORE above such above trails in these pages and check with Eastbay Parks for maps of each park

2)GREAT VIEWS OF THE SF SKYLINE: San Francisco does have a pretty impressive skyline but better viewed from the Eastbay.   Well, when the fog lets you see the city, anyway.

3) MT. DIABLO: Speaking of hikes, you don’t have to drive far for stunning nature in all of its glory and majesty. Okay, that’s a tad hyperbolic, but only a tad. Mount Diablo State Park features not only the impressive eponymous peak, but there’s also occasionally snow and how often do you see that around San Francisco?

4) GREAT RESTAURANTS AND BARS: Want to wait months to get in to State Bird Provisions? Go for it. Want to visit a wide variety of new restaurants and fun bars without that wait? Places like Beer Revolution feature a great experience without the hassle of standing in line or refreshing a website at midnight just to get in. Try many of the outdoor eating destinations like Jack London Square , Oakland,  Berkeley Marina to name but a few popular areas for outdoor dining.

5)Surprisingly, the Eastbay has perhaps better and warmer beaches than San Francisco.   East Bay has beaches that are warm enough to be habitable more than a few days a year. Better yet, those views of the surrounding Bay area may be lower than from the hills, but they’re still pretty stunning, especially while you’re sunning. Lots of beaches you may not know about scattered throughout the Eastbay including newer ones in Pinole, Richmond, Alameda, and some hidden gems in Benicia.
