Capitola – by – the Sea Most Charming, Quaint Seaside Town
One of the nicest little spots along the California Coast is Capitola , or Capitola – by – the – Sea, as it is known. Unlike many seaside towns, the upscale Capitola is well maintained and a pleasure to shop or relax anywhere along it’s cozy wharf-side landscape. Choose from three wineries. We liked Armida, just along the most beautiful water-side trail setting (turn right on Stockton just after the Winery and proceed down the little hill, pictured below)

From Armida Winery down to magnicent river trail

Private homes, this private park along the beautiful trail

Nice, friendly lab on porch of one of many private homes along river trailside

Bulldog with owner along one of many back alleys of town

And a green parrott on green bench sunning himself in front of delicous Gayle’s Bakery just beyond the popular wharf

A few blocks from the Wharf is Gayle’s Bakery Restaurant, where we stopped for delicious sandwiches and salads and baked goods.

 CAPITOLA-BY-THE-BEACH, CA
A few miles down the road from Santa Cruz is a much smaller beach community, CAPITOLA.
We stopped there first to pick up an Hawaiian Shirt or two at the famous BIG KAHUNA.
Unfortunately it was closed but we saw some spectacular views and well-heeled folks enjoying
a warm evening sunset at places like the restaurant, on the water.

It’s the weekend of the BEGONIA FESTIVAL in Capitola, which has brought out the crowds
and some nice musical entertainment

You won’t find a more relaxed setting

If you want a Hawaiian Tshirt this is the place, but get there before 6:30 pm
Lots of other quaint shops dot a four block stretch
