So obscure it’s not even on the Briones Park Map but well worth visiting. Eastbay Mud trail permit required but there are so few people and not even a sign-in sheet nobody would know the difference

Briones Hampton Staging
Look for this street sign near Bear Creek and Happy Valley Rd. near the ‘Eggs’ sign, and follow street to the end-Hampton Staging Area
Look for field of sheep on Hampton road to Hampton Staging area. You have about a mile more to staging area
Varied landscape approaching peak of trail with mustard in full bloom
Great spot for horseback riding, per sign. Trails aren’t well marked and one could get lost if they go too far, plus not much help here.
Field of friendly if noisy sheep on road leading up to/ out of staging area
