Get ready for a one-time glimpse into the private life of Frank Sinatra from the vantage point of Sinatra’s favorite place, his home of 40 years in Palm Springs, California. They say it’s the first time – and maybe last – ever that the Sinatra’s favorite place has been opened for public viewing, as it were. Also, thanks to Huell Howswer and his connections, we get to visit Desert Memorial Cememtary where Sinatra is buried along with family members and many of his Hollywood friends like songwriter Jimmy Heusen. It’s a full hour show and , perhaps, as Heull says, as fine an adventure as he ever had in the many years doing his California Gold. So, if you’ve never seen this before, let’s go discover some more California Gold with Huell Howser (episode from 2007 we believe).

Highlights of the show include the first ever look into the Sinatra home, which features a theatre/bar/lounge where Frank entertained many a late night gathering of friends, including one Frankie X, an entertainer him who used to be at the piano while Frank was singing during many of these parties. Frankie embelishes this amazing episode with his stories and reminiscences, along with another Palm Springs regular, Gary. What we find impressive is that Sinatra lived well, but not to the extreme as one might have expected. The home is expansive yet rather modest as compared to many of Hollywood’s luminaries. Little has been changed in the home. It is pretty much as it was when Sinatra was alive, as Frankie tells us; it gives him an ‘eerie’ feeling to come back and visit as if it were yesterday and still feeling the Sinatra presences. At the end of the show, after visiting Sinatra’s resting place we get to be entertained by footage of the old Palm Springs parade, that was very popular in its time. Enjoy and thanks again to Huell and all who made this extremely entertaining episode possible.
